In the case of the destination for nomads, the study identifying Rio as the world leader analyzed factors such as cost of stay and living, average temperature, internet speed, and even safety. Rio came first, with a low cost of living from a foreign perspective, pleasant average temperature, and good internet quality — explained Cristiano Borges, curator of the publications and an Embratur official. The entry of digital nomads into Brazil was regulated in 2022. Since then, there has been a specific visa for these professionals: temporary, allowing up to one year of residence in the country, in addition to offering discounts at hotels accredited with the city government.
